While the February chill hit its peak, the city of Calgary was
enjoying a visit from the Shoppers Drug Mart Associates and Front
Store Managers for their Annual National Conference.
As the aNd Logistix team packed up 1600 registration packages for a
week in the great west, five Calgary hotels, the TELUS Convention
Centre and Calgary’s best tour guides prepared for the arrival of
Shoppers Drug Mart Nationwide.
Dressed in Wild West get-up, nothing could have prepared us for the
unexpected 600 delegates who wanted to register on the dot of 6.00
pm when registration opened. It was heads down and bums up for the
aNd Logistix crew, who were thrown into automatic registration
pilot. With Dana and
Beatriz moving the delegates through, Shawna taking care of hotel
enquiries and Tracy keeping stocks high...
Cowboy hats were all the rage, as each delegate received a
personal-sized Cowboy hat to take home. The Convention Centre
remained a sea of hats for the rest of the conference.
When trying to
locate a certain delegate, their friend actually said "he's wearing
a cowboy hat!" Yee Haw!!! |
There was a swarm of buses on Monday morning at Stephen Avenue Walk,
combined with a buzz of activity, excitement and relaxation as the
formal part of the conference was over. As a special treat,
delegates were given a choice of eleven tours ranging from a Calgary
City Tour to Dog Sledding at Canmore. Our team managed the tours
with some local staffing assistance and all had a fantastic time.
As the 2003 conference drew to an end and delegates filed out of
hotels to the airport, the aNd team reflected on another successful
event. Delegates and staff alike walked away with an air of
excitement as the announcement had been made…off we go to Florida
next year, so look out for aNd More updates!
With the Shoppers Drug Mart National Conference behind her, Shawna
unassumingly went shopping at a local Shoppers Drug Mart. Little did
she know that she has become a famous face in the Shoppers Drug Mart
community, as Mr. John Docherty, Front Store Manager at store #755
in Hamilton approached her to thank her! This is what John had to
say:
“Very good conference with well organized registration, seamless
transportation to and from meeting venues, great field trips,
especially the dog sledding…fabulous pick up and returns to the
airport!”
