ISPC 17
This summer, over 600 international delegates visited our city of Toronto for the International Symposium on Plasma Chemistry, now in its 17th year. aNd Logistix was honoured to plan this truly international event, attended by professors, doctors and students from all over the world. With over 200 speakers and hundreds of poster sessions, this week long event proved to be highly educational for the delegates. aNd wanted to be sure to give the international delegates a small taste of our wonderful country through a group tour to Niagara Falls and a Gala Dinner held at the Liberty Grand with the Canadian Three Tenors as the feature entertainment. Overall, the event was a great success for everyone involved and our international delegates expressed great gratitude and excitement over their visit to our city and country.

Planning meetings in global destinations are exciting opportunities for both planners and delegates. Bringing international meetings to Canada is also exciting – what an opportunity to showcase your home country and city! However, advanced and concise planning is key when planning any type of international event. aNd Logisitx is well experienced in both aspects. We have travelled abroad to plan conferences and incentives as well as planned international events in Toronto. Using experienced meeting planners will surely take out the guesswork when planning an international event. Here are just a few of the items one must consider and plan for in advance for international events:
Making arrangements with local governments
Letting the government know that an event will be held in their country and city will certainly help your delegates, suppliers, exhibitors and sponsors.
Taxes
Every country has different tax rules and knowing what they are will certainly assist in budget planning and in advising your delegates what to expect once they arrive in the country.
Shipping materials
After months and months of planning, you want to ensure that all your conference materials arrive safely and in time. Hiring a customs broker will assist in clearing items with customs and knowing what type of shipping carrier to use will also ensure your items arrive safely.
Visas, Immigration Rules and Work Permits
Providing your delegates, speakers and exhibitors with clear information well ahead of time will ensure that everyone has proper documentation to enter the country.
Being well informed in all of these aspects will help to ensure that your international event will run smoothly and no one will be disappointed by not having the most correct and up to date information available.
Company meetings held outside of the office can be great motivational tools. An off-site meeting can really shake things up and revitalize and re-energize your employees, building team spirit and getting everyone’s creative juices flowing again. A meeting “away from home” is often the best way to generate new enthusiasm, new ideas, and a renewed commitment to company goals.
