its strong position in the industry and its strength

Financial Administrators Section Annual Conference
This years FAS Annual Conference moved south of the
border to the beautifully warm Scottsdale Arizona.
One hundred and fifty delegates and guests from
across Canada enjoyed a four day conference held at
the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Hotel, a perfect
location for a successful conference. Beatriz and
Shawna led the group over four days to enjoy
business sessions and exhibits. Evening events
included dinner by the outdoor pool, an elegant
evening at Sassi Ristorante in the mountains and a
casual gathering at the TPC Golf Course. Leisure day
had delegates enjoying a shotgun tournament or
organized Jeep Tours of the desert. The conference
closed with a fantastic performance by Rik Emmett,
former lead singer of Triumph. The private concert
allowed delegates to enjoy an intimate performance
that left everyone talking right through the
evening. aNd Logistix was proud to partner with the American Ceramic Society in the planning of the 1st International Congress on Ceramics held at The Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto. Over 400 international delegates came together over six days to enjoy a combination of plenaries, breakouts, poster sessions and an exhibit hall. Delegates also enjoyed a classic Toronto Habour Dinner Cruise aboard the Northern Spirit, part of the Mariposa Cruise Line fleet. Guests enjoyed the fabulous summer weather along with great food and a fantastic view of the Toronto skyline. Overall, the congress was a huge success, setting the bar high for the succeeding congresses. aNd Team helps raise money for Women’s Habitat!
December is all about Christmas. We thought we would share some Christmas trivia with you How did Christmas become Xmas? The "X" in Xmas stand for the Greek letter "Chi," the first letter in the Greek word for Christ. So, over the years, the X became a quick way to say or indicate Christ. Then the mass media giants of the twentieth century got hold of this shortened version and ran wild with it in all their headlines. It was in magazines and on billboards everywhere. Eventually Xmas made it to T.V and the rest is history. So, simply put, Xmas got it's worldwide fame simply because it fit better in a headline. Why do we kiss under the mistletoe? This one goes back to Roman times when the plant (which grows on oak and other nonevergreen trees) was considered a charm against evil. Those who entered a house safely where mistletoe had been hung in the doorway were greeted with a welcome kiss. Somehow this custom of a welcoming kiss worked it's way into England and Canada and transformed itself into doing the kissing directly under the mistletoe. |
